solenne haskins trauma's an unfortunately-interesting thing, and running from those particular breeds of monsters can only get you so far; soon enough, turning and facing them on your own is the only option. solenne is learning this very lesson after leaving the east coast. with her gradually-estranged family in new york, and nothing but bad memories lurking in the shadows of north carolina, it was time to start fresh. starting fresh includes closing the chapter on a horrific ordeal, and moving west to become someone outside of the 'irresponsible sister' fallacy. LOYALTY & HONOR she wasn't drunk. she wasn't texting. there was something in the middle of the road, and it wouldn't move, so solenne had swerved to avoid it. like anyone would. but solenne, the ford she was driving, and her sister in the passenger seat all careened off the road and into a patch of trees. it would be the last time she saw selene in one piece, seconds before she was torn up by whatever that thing was. no one would believe the truth about what she'd seen, no. in the face of abject tragedy, solenne instantly accepted the 'irresponsible sister' label, and falsely carries the blame for her sister's death to this day to avoid being called 'crazy' outright. the only way to truly end the ordeal and honor her sister's memory is to find out what really happened that night. KNOWLEDGE & CURIOSITY there's more out there in the world than she's ever known, solenne knows that now. with a wild sense of adventure and curiosity, a borderline-reckless sol left her life in north carolina behind in pursuit of a new start in washington. since moving, however, it's done nothing but stoke and fuel the questions she's had for years. what's real? what's not? what haven't i known all along, and how does that change things? they're difficult questions with even more mind-boggling answers, but that's never stopped solenne. she's asking many questions of herself and of the new people around her, but she needs the answers just as much as they might need them, too. ![]() considerate and adventurous, solenne is always the one to be coaching the underdog or questioning authority; she does her best to be fair and just — usually succeeding in the task — but in some cases, has to actively work to not let her emotions get the best of her. she’s got a consciousness of her own thoughts and feelings that keeps her grounded, and is usually of the mind that nurturing someone or building with them is always the more effective than the alternative. in the past, she’s been known as the captain; an intelligent, bubbly athlete with high standards and the dogged determination to meet them. this has changed somewhat over the years, but only in the way that suggests she’s matured, and able to better channel her energy into productive outlets that usually involve helping others succeed. that aside, she values humor, home/family, and what she considers to be ‘little things’ — kindness, patience, and determination — are all things she looks for in the people she chooses to share her life with. for further reading/analysis: sun sign, mbti + ain't gonna drown ; elle king + you go girl ; jason graves + to be human ; sia feat. labrinth + woods ; bon iver + believer ; imagine dragons + people help the people ; cherry ghost + run or hide ; jason graves + all alright ; fun. + come as you are ; nirvana + i walk the line ; halsey + oh death ; jen titus + death defying acts ; angus & julia stone + heathens ; twenty one pilots + physical activity; gymnastics, yoga, boxing, running, and hiking. + fresh air; misses the frequent sun of north carolina's beaches, but has a particularly secluded spot she frequents when she needs breathing room. she'll never tell you where it is. alizeh may have a clue. + intellectual pursuits; completed 200 hours of anatomy/kinesiology study, was pursuing biology and exercise science at UNC before dropping out. + johnny cash, leather jackets, tulips, ares (sadie's dog), dry humor, cooking a decent meal, DISLIKES. - the supernatural; not an outright dislike, but sol's been defensive ever since selene's death, and rightly so. she has no intention of forgetting what caused the awful domino effect in her life. - small, enclosed spaces; not to the point of claustrophobia, but still not high-up on her list. - the idea of absolutes other than death. - grape soda.
